Carburetion operation...

On our last project we rebuilt the carbs last. If you have ever rebuilt a bank of four carbs you will understand why we will be starting with this bit first.

Pretty gnarly in the float bowls.

Mostly torn down. Float pivot dowels are stuck. Soaking on PB. I'll try some heat tomorrow.

Broke part of the main jet stand off the #4 carb. Bummer. Not sure if its a lost cause or maybe JB weld the jet in and call it bueno!!

2 minutes or less with a soda blast and that bowl looks awesome!

Yummy carburator stew! Boiled them for 20 minutes.
Heated up the float pivot dowels and braced the post on a support and tapped them out with a punch and hammer.

Bagged and Taged: Ready for a good bath and polish followed reassembly with new bass and rubber.

Clean enough for the kitchen counter.

15 minutes with a soda blaster! Wow you gotta try this. Just get a cheap portable sandblaster with the hopper on top. fill it with baking soda and clean those parts...

Yard Sale

Completed disassembly of the bike today. Doesn't have quite the same panache when in pieces on the ground.

This is the entire bike minus pipes and front fender.

Only a couple of surprises: strained my back lifting the motor out :( and the discovery that the top triple clamp was cracked on both sides.

Top triple clamp is unusable

Here is an option for replacement.

A bit pricy at 140 clams - but super clean and strong.

Plan is now is to get the engine on a stand, inspect and adjust as necessary. Purchase exhaust, rebuild carbs and see if she will fire up.

Old Hondas that turn over usually run

Plugs look clean. Probably quit running because the carbs got dirty and clogged up.

Broke the motor free today. Good news! Shifts through the gears too. Will have to wait for exhaust and carb rebuild to give it a start.

Stator and Rotor look fantastic.

1973 Honda CB350 Four

This is our latest project: 1973 Honda CB350 Four.

A shout out goes to Matt in Fresno for hooking us up with a wonderful deal on this cool old relic.

Our friends will remember our last Proj, Roxanne started out looking every bit as worn as this CB350f. We think Roxy cleaned up pretty nice and can't wait to see how this little gem of a bike is going to turn out.
Roxanne 1980 CB750K

Before the tear down we wanted to post a few photos of the current state of the machine.
Seat looks like it made a nice nest for some rats or birds.
Great lines right out of the box!
 Mostly complete...
She's got some miles on her... 24K
Missing exhaust - Honda used real thin metal on the pipes to reduce weight, as a result it's nearly impossible to find original headers.
That tank screams 1973! Love the cafe racer knee indentations and gold pen stripe.

Stay tuned...
